Privacy Policy
Protecting survey respondents' privacy rights is vitally important to our company, and to our industry. We have earned and depend upon the trust and goodwill of Canadians, and our industry has always been a leader in privacy protection.
We are limiting the amount and type of information gathered to what is necessary for the identified purposes. Our organization uses personal information only for the purpose(s) for which it was collected – typically, for statistical analysis of survey results – unless the respondent consents to its use or disclosure for other purposes. We keep personal information on file for only twelve months, before it is destroyed. As part of the introduction to each survey or script for recruiting focus group participants, we identify the reasons for collecting personal information, such as, "We are conducting a survey and would like your participation. The information you provide is for research purposes only and is kept confidential. Only aggregate survey responses will be reported to the client." If disclosing respondents’ personal information to a third party (e.g., to a client in a customer satisfaction study) is required, we explain the purpose while asking for consent: "May we provide your name and survey responses to _______ so that a customer service representative may contact you to discuss your specific concerns?" Matrix Research is open about its procedures used to manage personal information. If you have specific questions, please contact our Privacy Officer by email at privacyofficer@matrixresearch.ca. Upon a written request to the Privacy Officer, we will advise an individual what personal information about him/her we have in our possession or control, what it is being used for, and to whom it has been disclosed. If you need additional information or want to launch an enquiry about a specific survey, please contact the Marketing Research and Intelligence Association (MRIA), with whom our surveys are registered – please see the contact information below. We also subscribe to all survey research standards developed by this professional association to assure excellence in the conduct of research in Canada and obey by the MRIA’s Rules of Conduct and Good Practice.
